HAPPY VESAK 2008!

to all fellow buddhist brothers and sisters out there.
.
.
May the qualities of The Triple Gem give refuge and bless all mankind.
.
Our family pray that all the unfortunate victims of Myanmar Cyclone and Sichuan Earthquarke rest in peace and attain spiritual liberalisation.
.
To the fortunate survivors & the surviving families, we pray that you'll stay strong for the sake and in support of your loved ones. Although we know that no amount of words can comfort or make up for the loss of their loved ones, we pray sincerely that there will be happiness and bliss to all mankind.

Sunday

Yet another typical Sunday for us both, Mummy & son.
.
We did the usual. Ate our breakfast, watched half an hour of "Doraemon" on Channel 8 at 9.30am, then embarked on an activity - Colour Painting.
.
.
Ms Christine, Kiet's ex-Head Teacher used to tell me this: One of the ways to instill creativity in the child is to let him play with colours. Painting is one good activity for free-expression. The number ONE rule to note is try NOT to restrict the child in whatever he likes to do with his brush and colours, just let him doodle whatever he wishes and guide him along as he gets better.
.

.
With that advice in mind, I asked Kiet to doodle with colours for a start. As he gradually warmed up, I tried to do painting together with him. Hence, I suggest that I share his piece of paper. He'll doodle on one side while I do mine on the other. Yes, he's receptive and happy with my suggestion....hahaha....
.
(Master-piece by Mum & Son)
.
Later, I progressed to suggest that we draw shapes and colour on them. Yeah, Kiet is happy. He even named those shapes to me while I draw it with a marker. After that, both of us worked our paint on the shapes and of course I tried to encourage the son to paint most of the shapes! HEH HEH.....
.
(can anyone tell who painted the shapes?)
.
This "Kia-Su" mummy definitely didn't leave out the chance to revise his phonics. I took out a picture of the banana and asked him to ask lustre to it too!
.
.
About 30 mins later, he's showing signs of getting 'bored' with painting. He's reluctant to doodle or draw anything when I suggested it to him. Alright, that means time to stop then. At the end before packing up, I showed him how to 'write' his name.
.
After I'm done, I requested him to hold it to pose for a picture. He's delighted and yes, he posed with a big wide smile.
.
(See my two row of teeth)
.
During clean up, I asked if he was happy to paint today. Gosh, he gave a loud YES!

Mama's Day Gift from a 3 year old

I'm utterly touched by my boy's hand-made mother's day gift when I receive it this evening at the in-law's.
.
In a transparent holder lies 2 pieces of little bread finished with a heart-shaped card that reads "Happy Mother's Day!"; the bread is spread with butter and some colourful sugar rice, all lovingly made by Kiet under his teacher's guidance.
.
.
I am so happy & delighted to hold this little handmade from my child for the Mother's day! Oh well, it's kind of hard to describe the feeling but just more than delighted is all I could say.
.

.
Thank you Kiet, Mummy is so proud of your thoughful gift & I love you much much!!!

Graffiti Saturday

Another much looked forward day of every week has arrived!
.
With Master ANG at work this morning, both mummy and son decided to start their day late! Not long after waking, Mummy brought Kiet out to collect some shower cream orders (staff purchases at value prices!!) from Mummy's colleague at Toa Payoh - Aunty Jen.
.
Due to the unbearable humid weather, Mummy decided to abandon the idea of shopping but head straight home after the collection.
.
.
Mummy started preparing for lunch after arriving home while the cheeky boy embarked on his artistic session on the whiteboard with radio music playing in the background.
.
.
He was found shaking his buttocks while scribbing on the whiteboard! The very amused mum hence quickly grabbed the cam and took a couple of photos.
.
Nobody could guess what he's drawing - Kiet says it's a snake. Mummy says its "Graffiti" - Expressive art form artist in the making.

Before May Day

.
Labour Day is around the corner and what does May Day means to a working mum? Just another public holiday break to unwind totally or spent time with her family + household chores?
.
.
Many a times I really wonder what lies ahead of my work path after spending more than 7 years with my current employment - I am feeling that "7-Year Inch" and tiredness. Perhaps when someone is too familiar with his environment and routine, it's natural to feel tired of it.
.
That feeling is just like that of a person who will find thrills in something new. Once that thrill vanishes, the same old familiar tiredness will return to haunt you until you find a brand new thrill once again. The cycle goes round and round in circles.
.
I've decided that instead of falling into the thrill/tiredness cycle, I'll rather let it be. Treat an employment as a means to be paid so to feed & indulge myself, while my most important focus is shifted to care for the family and find self-improvement along the course of family focus. I'll not let the ambition of climbing the corporate ladder blind my other more important personal objectives.
.
After all, being in the top positions does not necessary bring you that liberalisation and happiness. I'll rather have a great mental rest on that day.

Music & Movements

Our boy is a proven music lover (guess he takes after more of his daddy).
.
Whenever the TV flashes commercials or if we blast music through our audio speakers, he'll start to dance around the house.
.
Here's a latest clip of him, dancing to the tune of "Wheels on the bus" with his daddy clapping around.
.
.
It's so interesting to see him enjoying himself with all sorts of actions and movements. It's absolutely comical and amusing! He makes our day!

Our family's signature

Was browsing the web and chanced upon a free signature site.
.
Out of fun and curiosity, I tried and chose this!
.

.
What do you think? Oh well, got to find a chance to ask Master ANG if he likes it. (heh heh)

more on the Letter B

B is also for "Butterfly".
.
Colouring is one of the usual activities prepared for our darling son at home. Now that we're still enforcing the Letter B, I've done a search & printed out pictures, animals or any items that is related to the Letter B. This day, it's colouring the Butterfly.
.

.
I'll usually singing along the alphabet song that is also taught in school via Letterland which goes like this:
.
"Bouncy Ben says "b" in words
Bouncy Ben says "b" in words
Bouncy Ben says "b" in words,
before he bounces home."
.

.
After much colouring, Letter shaping will be next!

I want to go ZOO

"I want to go (to) ZOO Daddy!"
.
A request we very often hear coming from our child in the recent months. As doting parents, we definitely choose not to disappoint the young. Hence Master ANG planned for a zoo trip few weeks back after being "pestered" by his dear son. Hee Hee....
.

.
So yesterday, a group of us consisting Mr & Mrs How, Mr & Mrs Chua with their lovely son (a.k.a.) Kiet's little best friend Poh Ong plus our family of 3 went for a Zoo Outing.
.
We're so anticipating this time that we've brought along lots of food for the outing! We've got Bee Hoon, yummy Thai Duck curry, sandwiches, hot & cold drinks, salads, biscuits etc. (Yes, that's where it'll add those fats around the tummy)
.
(Which part are we located now?)
.
All of us noticed on this outing that most of the animals are more 'lively'. They are seen roaming around and some even come about as "closer" to us as compared to the last few trips we've made.
.

(See those Cheetahs !! We're so close to them)
.
(Smile for the camera dears)
.
Our little boy is so excited when he saw the horse carriage passing by. He even requested to touch the horse and take a picture!
.

.
We also passed by the Children's World and allowed him some play time at the open playground, while the adults took a resting break from the walk! hahahaha..............getting old & lack of exercise mainly.
.

.
Yes, all of us managed to watch the ending part of the little Elephant Show before settling down to eat lunch. After munchie, we continued to walk the entire park until it passes 1pm to decide that we should call it a day to allow the children to return for their afternoon naps.
.
Bottonline: all of us enjoyed the morning walk (very refreshing) and children had a fun time interacting with nature! Till next time, ZOO TRIP to be planned again!

Satisfied dinner

The family spent most of our day time clearing up the usual chores at home.
.
On such a typical Saturday especially after all the hard work, what better way to reward ourselves? Food!!!
.
.
Sumptuous food to end the week and to reward ourselves for all the hard work we've put in.

Grieve

.
Today, our family is trying our best to come to terms with a piece of news. A bad, bad news.
.
We have lost our unborn nephew in the early morning today.
.
We hope everyone; our close friends, colleagues & relatives can give us that strength and hope, in order for us to be able to console and support our dear sis and bro-in-law. This, will be a difficult period for our family.
.
.
Dearest Nephew,
Thank you for being a strong boy all these while. Your survival spirit will live in our hearts.
.
Wherever you are now, we hope you're in good hands, resting in peace.
.
Uncle, Aunty & your cousin Kiet loves you forever.

Concept of an Aeroplane

Although the family seldom indulge in buying playthings for our son, we're always exercising prudence when choosing the right toys for our little kid.
.
Recently, Master ANG brought a toy aeroplane for Kiet and oh my, he was very delighted indeed with his new toy!
.
.
Though the plane moves, turns around and makes landing with sounds, it's movements is rather similar to an actual air-craft. Especially when the aeroplance makes it's landing, I noticed Kiet liked the 'zoooossshhh' sound most!
.
Hahaha..........., Well, at least the concept of an air-craft is obvious to our child. We won't welcome those toys that converts a plane to a robot.
..

Colourful World

It's really a joy being accompanied by a child.
.
Their little minds' so innocent and they'll actually believe whatever you tell them! Their world is full of fantasy, imaginations and carefree play-time.
.
.
The world is really so colourful in their eyes! Even a dinosaur is beautiful - or is it not? Hmmm....
